Happy Thursday !

Last nite my son learned how to snorkel ... in OUR TUB with this Lanai Junior Mask and Snorkel Combo set I bought at Costco this weekend:

It was such a hoot to see him in the tub learning how to breathe and blow !! :) This is definately a Mommy's silly-simple pleasure! At the end of his 'session' he stood up and proclaimed "I'm ready for Hawaii!"

and another thing I'm super EXCITED about:

I've joined the best mini club ever and have been spending time getting to know all the ladies. We're having a super time trying to come up with a club name, sharing picts of our mini's, etc. But the most fun is going to each other's blogs and getting to know them ;) Super F.U.N. :)

and .. we have a really neat group of talented ladies! I'm really looking forward to learning from them, laughing with them and sharing with them :) Today I will continue on working on my mini for the exchange!

Hope you and yours are having a great week!

Memorial Day

A swelling heartfelt "Thank you" to all the men and women who have served our country.

**photo: Gunny's flag pole (at my father's house-retired Marine Corp.)

God bless all those who have served, who are currently in harms way, and all the families (wives, mothers, fathers, sibblings, all relatives, friends) who sacrifice so much for our country.

Thank you to my husband - I remember your service and am honored to be your wife :)

Enjoy your Memorial Day :)

Sunday BBQs at the Gunny's

Sunday BBQ's at the Gunny's (my Dad's house) are really special to me. I relish the opportunity to just relax and enjoy myself. My parents' grandchildren run around playing, entertaining each other, nieces and nephews, sisters, friends of the family just all chat and enjoy the time. And I LOVE that I can actually have a whole conversation with my husband (this is sometimes a challenge with 2 little kiddos). So, with my kids off playing, I relax, chat with my great parents, eat too much, and walk around 'Gunny's beautiful garden'. Forever simple-cherished memories!

I hope you all are having an truly great weekend!

Desk Art for a Friend

Here's a quick little post...

so, last week I noticed my friend at work (who recently became a grandmother) had a photo of her grandson on her desk and it was propped up against her pencil jar. So I asked her if I could take it home and 'fix it' so she could hang it up! She happily said 'sure!'.

*********** Here's my little afternoon project for a friend ***********

I hope she smiles with pleasure and enjoys hanging it up!
Anyways...I love-Love long weekends :) I have more time to do 'misc scrapping projects'!

Hope you all are having a great Sunday and getting in some 'scrapping pleasures' :)

"Paper Bag Mini" to Share

Hope everyone's having a Happy Saturday :)
My boys are busy playing with their cousin's (sleep over) so I thought I'd post a "Mini Album Share". I had tons of fun making this little mini and I already added my my photo's to it!! And... as usual, I got my inspiration from the fabulous Marion at "". Go check out her site - she's does A.W.E.S.O.M.E mini's!!! and her paper bag mini video is Super Cool: .

Here are some photos of the Paper Bag Mini I made from our little vacation to Big Bear, CA. It's made from just plain ol' paper bags, cute flowers, mini brads, ribbons, embellishments, etc.
I love the paper bag mini idea because its super easy to make, has LOTs of pockets for inserts/photos and SO SUPER CUTE!!!!

Love-Love Fridays!!

Oh, my gosh - I am so looking forward to this weekend!! Here's my mini list of things I WANT to do and will ATTEMPT to do but I'll see how things go. I'm not sure what my honey's plans/ideas are yet. :)

- tomorrow morning - I might (just might) try to sleep in til 7:30 ;)

- great yummy BBQs planned for Sunday & Monday to celebrate the holiday

- I plan on taking my honey (somewhere/anywhere) just the two of us for a couple of hours :)

- and play and play with the two kiddo's. Try to keep them from climbing high things (see pict below!)

- I get to start on a new mini album this weekend!! The planning of the mini's are just as much fun as doing them! Sometimes I overwhelm myself with pulling out too many 'gotta-use this and this' things.. hmmm.

Looking out the window right now - it looks a little gloomy & overcast.. that's OK with me! It's going to be a great long weekend!

***** View from my Computer Room *****
That's my oldest son in the little twiggy tree... Of course as soon as I seen him I yelled out the window for him to 'PLEASE GET DOWN!!!!'

Have a fabulous holiday weekend! Enjoy ;)

Happy Tuesday

It's Tuesday - ALREADY!?

gosh, the weekend was so fun - outta town visitors, yummy bbq's, outlet mall shopping .. I just .. I just.. want the weekend to be here again :) !

Here's a few pictures I took at my folks house during Saturday's of the BBQs *sigh*

-----> 2 grill masters + great yummy food = super BBQ!

beef kabobs ... yeah... :)
and my favorite garden picture from the weekend. My dad's garden is so beautiful and filled with blooming flowers. I always end up getting on the ground with my camera trying to capture simple pleasures!

and... lastly.. two things: the grandkids favorite spot in the garden and the bedroom of 'Poppy' (the parrot). Poppy was high up in the lemon tree during the bbq watching all of us with that ONE eyeball. He's so funny!

Enjoy the rest of your week... and simple pleasures :)

In Awe ... I Am

Have you ever noticed how the 'youngsters' take to any that is electronic and can master it with in minutes? Well, I have. MY little boys pick up a new electronic gadget or toy and within half an hour they pretty much know how it works. I am always amazed how quickly they 'get it'.

NOT me! I used to think I would never loose the 'edge' on staying on top of new gadgets or electronics. I used to think I was pretty clever and fast at figuring these things out. NOW I 'know' how wrong I was - AND I'm good with that. Ha -no more unnecessary struggles.
But my sister (see pict below) still likes to figure out new electronic toys, gadgets, whatever pretty quick. :) I admire her for 'trying' to stay on top with technology!

below is my oldest son teaching my older sister how to play a game on his DS. It was fun to watch him explain in terms 'she would understand' :) heee super cute!
It's not at all easy.. kids make it look so simple.. my brain is still wired for the 80's crap.

Here's a pretty neat pict I took at my folks house one afternoon as I played with my camera. I'm still learning about my camera and best ways to take photos. *sigh* But I'm pleased with the below one.. turned out neat. Just not quite sure how !? :)

Hope you all are having a great week!

Happy Mother's Day

I wish all the mommy's out there a beautiful, love-filled day! :) I feel loved .... and special.... and happy!

My husband (*sigh*) is pretty special.. he said our 2 boys 'inspired' him to make Mommy's breakfast.. served by my 8 yr old and menu defined by my 5 yr old. (warm fuzzy all over).
I enjoyed everything on the plate! so yummy... wow he can cook :)
Thank you B for making me a mommy. I feel blessed. H.a.p.p.y.

These flowers melt my heart because my youngest son picked out the plant, my husband planted it for us, and my oldest tries very hard not to hit them with his flying baseballs.

Have a great day!!

Haul Video

Today was a neat day! We did a baseball game first thing in the morning and my son's team won! They were so pleased.. I was giddy for them! Daddy was beaming too.. he was ready for a win. Nice way to start the weekend - don't you think?

We had a little breakfast and then a quick stop at Michael's (while my honey and boys waited so patiently). Check out what I got (click on link to my haul video).

NOw time to get organized, put stuff away, and be creatively PRODUCTIVE! :)
Happy MOther's Day to all you lucky, lucky, mommy's!

A Mother's Day Gift

Oh my goodnes, today was really special to me :)

My boys got home from school and had made me Mother's Day presents. I don't know about anyone else but I love anything they make me. Here's some photo's of my treasures.. I'm so lucky and giddy with smiles.

I'm going to put my earrings, that I wore for the day, into this pretty handmade bowl (made by my oldest son). I'm going to put it on my night stand and it is perfect!

and the beautifully decorated gift bag my new bowl came in. This is a treasure in itself too. hearts, sunshine, colorful, just so sweet!

My little fella 'T' gave me the cutest silhouette of himself and a 'self portrait' - really turned out so cute! They are both now hanging in my bedroom next to my bed! I'm so lucky!

Aw.. and I can't leave out the pict of my honey sitting next to me with the big parrot hanging out on his shoulder...eye balling me.. that bird! 'Poppy' the parrot is so funny.. it only likes men to handle him/her. Still not sure of the sex of the bird. These picts were taken at my folks this afternoon. It was such a pretty day.

enjoy the weekend, happy Mommy's Day!

Ladie's We're Lucky!

A couple of weekends ago my mother and I were up in Bakersfield visiting my sister and she took us to downstown to do a little antique shopping. And don't you just know it, I get home and wish I would have bought that pretty nick nak that I was eye balling. Ugh! I wanted that yellow candy dish on the second shelf in the middle - hard to see .. but gosh it was so pretty!

But what I wanted to share today are a couple of pictures I took during our afternoon shopping
One thing that really struck me while we were strolling through all the antiques was "oh my goodness we have come a long way!" Below is a picture of an old washing machine ..??? that's what my mother said it was! I doesn't LOOK like a washing machine!

If you want to go back to yester year and walk down memory lane.. do a quick little walk through a local antique store. You'll have a great time just seeing all the things you grew up with or owned a long time ago. My mother, sister and I were laughing and constantly picking things up with "wow! remember we had one of these?"

then I saw this cute buggy. I can just imagine long ago when it was new how pretty it must have been and what little bundle of joy was strolled around in this buggy. Now just looking at the picture, I feel like sneezing! :)

stay well, wash them hands of yours!
